"eidos" (εἶδος) refers to form, appearance, shape, or kind.

In Plato's Theory of Forms, "eidos" refers to the abstract, ideal models or concepts that exist beyond the physical realm, encapsulating the notion of transcendent, perfect entities or archetypes that shape our understanding of reality.

The Theory of Forms emphasizes a distinction between the imperfect physical world and the perfect, abstract forms that give objects their essence.

Applying this to wine, we can think of the sensory experience of a particular bottle as representing the tangible, fleeting manifestations of this abstract essence, transient expressions of a deeper, ideal form of wine.
